THE SEVENTH GENERATION OF VIDEO GAME MUSIC

The seventh generation includes Nintendo Wii, the Sony Playstation 3, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. This generation also includes the handheld Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP. The video game consoles of this generation boast superior hardware and processing power compared to its predecessors. Naturally, the video game music of this era is also very complex ranging from orchestral to rock music. This era also marks the time where video games could be deliberately produced with visuals and sounds like NES or SNES video games, to give the illusion of the game being older than it actually is. Video games made in this style are Capcom’s “Mega Man 9”, Sega’s “Pole’s Big Adventure” and Studio Pixel’s “Cave Story”. These games also bring some very good video game music. Overall, this era’s music is mixed with catchy 8-bit music and breathtaking orchestral music.

“Gears of War” is a third-person shooter by American video game developer, Epic Games. It was initially released on 2006 for the Xbox 360. The game focuses on the troops of a squad as they fight to save the human inhabitants in a fictional planet from a relentless enemy horde. The soundtrack is awesome. As an example, listen to “Gears of War” from the original soundtrack. It is as epic as it sounds. Read the rest of this entry »

Watches have been part of man’s journey for a very long time and it continues to serve us with its simple yet essential features. And since technology constantly progress, so does this little handy thing we wear on our wrists. That is why, people today are having a hard time choosing the best watch for them. From a vast range of wrist watches available in the market, it is good to know first the classifications of watches – and that is between Quartz and the Automatic ones. Now if you are planning to buy a watch, which do you think could possibly suits you best?

Automatic watches are watches that are in no need of batteries to operate. This said watch is also called as self-winding watch because it functions all by itself. It wounds automatically by the natural movement of the wearer’s wrist, giving energy to it. While for Quartz watches, it needs to have its batteries on to serve its function properly. So if reliability is the issue between these two watches, Automatic watches are said to be it. Though Quartz watches are also reliable, they can be unpredictable for they simply run off a battery. Will it cost you more? No, because it is still pricier to own an Automatic watch rather than buying a battery for your Quartz watch. One of the most iconic of all PC Role Playing games in my mind is the King’s Quest Series. This game was developed by Sierra, the game takes place through a long and challenging story of the Daventry kingdom and King Graham’s family. The first games of the series were characterized with difficulties in the physical aspect because of the DOS interface of the computer gaming software. The biggest pain known to the gaming industry back then was stair climbing. Through the years, the evolution of games came into a healthy point and click adventure with a bold storyline and a full cast of characters. There have been legal issues with Sierra’s holdings company Vivendi Universal back then, but after it has been resolved, they have created the largest non commercial gaming project in the history of gaming, the Silver Lining. This should be the ninth installment of the King’s Quest series, but if you do not count the King’s Quest VII as an actual part of the series then this would be the eighth installment. The Silver Lining is packaged by episodes and is released one by one. As of this time, the chapters available for play are chapters one through three. Read the rest of this entry »

The Terran race in Starcraft 2 video game is an interesting race to play with, but sometimes it is difficult to use. Some ideas are found below to help you utilize strategies needed to fully maximize the potential of the Terran race, most especially the operations and actions that you can try with them in online games.

First strategy to try and use is the Reaper Rush, this unit is a fast and far ranged. It does a light damage but can jump cliffs. You must build a Barracks and Refinery before you start building the first supply depot, you then attach a tech lab as soon as you because this is the fastest normal approach on infiltration by a Reaper. This Reaper rush may cripple your economy early on, but if are successful this would be worth the crippled economy. Your primary goal with this strategy is to inflict more damage than the damage that you might incur. If you are still on the lower levels of play, preemptively the Reapers would be gathered in a group of two or three, but if are now playing in the higher level, you should now be more vigilant and bring out a Reaper as soon as it goes out of the Barracks. You have to remember that those Tier 1 melee units would not be able to hurt you, you just need to have the Reapers take their shots and most likely that you will be fine. The Reaper has a huge survivability and harassment potential with its ability to jump cliffs. Read the rest of this entry »
